Strategic Advisory
Jamiraus Advisory provides senior strategic counsel to governments, institutions and the organisations that work with them — navigating the intersection of technology, policy and program delivery.
What We Do
Jamiraus Advisory brings together deep sector knowledge, executive leadership and a record of translating complex technology agendas into policy, programs and outcomes. Our work spans local and state government, academia and the private sector.
Developing technology and digital strategies, policies and business cases that are grounded in delivery realities — from inception through to government approval and stakeholder alignment.
Advisory on smart city and connected place programs — integrating data, IoT, sustainability and digital inclusion into government planning, infrastructure and community outcomes.
Practical guidance for government and institutional clients on harnessing AI, machine learning and data to drive outcomes — from strategy and ethics through to program design and vendor engagement.
Senior advisory for complex, multi-stakeholder technology programs — including governance design, executive facilitation, and the engagement of government, industry, and academic partners.
About
Jamiraus Advisory is the practice of Rory Brown, a senior executive with over 15 years of leadership experience across government, large corporates and start-ups. Rory brings a distinctive combination of strategic rigour, commercial grounding and a track record of delivered programs to every engagement.
As Executive Director of Smart and Connected Technology for the NSW Government, Rory established NSW as Australia's centre of excellence in smart and connected technology — building the agenda into government strategy, policy and a globally recognised program portfolio spanning sustainability, circular economy, safety, AI and digital inclusion.
Prior to his public sector career, Rory spent six years as a senior executive at SingTel Optus — leading corporate strategy, launching SingTel Group's global personal cloud service, and heading a digital product team of 90 people with a development budget of over $50m. He began his career in investment banking and strategy consulting in the UK telecommunications sector and holds a Chartered Management Accountant qualification.
Thinking
Smart Cities & Place
At the world's largest smart city gathering in Barcelona, the most important lesson for Australia had nothing to do with technology at all.
Smart Cities
Data is abundant. Meaningful outcomes are harder. How to close the gap between technology investment and community benefit.
Strategy
Most technology strategies look impressive and deliver little. The difference is rarely the technology.
